Our Executive President, Nicolas Kyriakides, and has made a significant contribution to the special edition (Volume 22 – Issue 2) of In Depth, the esteemed quarterly online journal published by the Cyprus Centre for European and International Affairs.
This special edition, titled “The Price of Protectionism: Trump’s 2025 Tariff Regime and Europe’s Strategic Dilemma” analyses Donald Trump’s return to the U.S. presidency in 2025 which has reignited protectionist trade policies, including major tariffs that hit the EU. These measures disrupt transatlantic trade, strain EU-U.S. relations, and challenge Europe’s reliance on multilateralism.
In response, the EU is pursuing greater strategic autonomy, diversifying trade partners, and boosting domestic production. The situation marks a deeper shift in global power dynamics, forcing Europe to rethink its role in an increasingly fragmented and competitive world order.
We invite you to explore this publication to gain deeper insights on how Trump’s 2025 tariffs are reshaping EU-U.S. relations and pushing Europe toward greater strategic and economic independence.
