Geopolitics and Regional Partnerships: Cyprus as a Bridge for Peace

The geopolitical panels at Cyprus Forum 2025 showcased Cyprus’s growing role as a regional connector between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Foreign policy officials and diplomats emphasised the island’s strategic value in promoting peace, energy cooperation, and stability across the Eastern Mediterranean. Greek Cypriot Negotiator Menelaou reaffirmed that UN Security Council resolutions remain the only viable framework for resolving the Cyprus issue, stressing diplomacy and dialogue as the path forward.

India’s High Commissioner described Cyprus as “India’s gateway to Europe”, highlighting emerging partnerships in trade, technology, and education. These remarks were echoed by the UK’s High Commissioner, who noted Cyprus’s increasing importance as a regional partner in a complex security landscape.
