Energy Transition and the Fight Against Corruption

Energy security, climate responsibility, and good governance took centre stage at Cyprus Forum 2025, where policymakers and experts explored how transparency and sustainability can drive both economic and democratic resilience. Participants discussed the challenges of Cyprus’s energy transition within the broader European Green Deal framework, emphasising the urgent need for cross-sector cooperation and public accountability.

In her remarks, Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki linked energy reform to anti-corruption efforts, arguing that effective transitions depend on transparent institutions, fair market practices, and citizen participation. President Nikos Christodoulides reinforced this message, stating that combating corruption is central to ensuring public confidence in both national and EU-level reforms. These discussions reflected the Forum’s broader vision of integrating environmental, governance, and ethical priorities to secure Cyprus’s sustainable future.
